Designed for a local manufacturer the house sits on a plateau with district views to the west. The client has an interest in contemporary architecture and wanted to make a statement in the locality.
The building form is conceived as a transitional element between the different heights and front setbacks of the neighbours. While the style of the house is highly individual for the area the form is respectful of neighbouring conditions.
A mixture of white rendered walls, sandstone vertical chimney elements and alucobond cladding provides visual richness. The house stands as statement for the owner who came to Australia as a teenage refugee and has built a happy life and successful business from nothing.
