Dover Heights House 1
While not apparent this house was an alterations and additions project. The existing side walls of a derelict cottage were retained for their advantageous side setbacks. The project comprised two different approval pathways: Complying development for the ground floor and a DA for the first floor and garage. This allowed the client (also the builder) to expedite construction. A timeline of less than 12 months has been achieved from approvals to completion.
The house comprises a simple cubic aesthetic with contrasting black windows and doors. A sense of terracing back from the street is achieved through subtle offsets in the building alignment.
